About me

I'm Jo Risby and I've always been a passionate home cook. I grew up in Suffolk and my Mum cooked everything from scratch, including all our own bread. When I left home I carried on in the same tradition but for some reason I never tried making my own bread. Then, a few years ago, I went on 2 bread-making courses in London - and I haven't bought a loaf of bread since.

Making and baking bread can be a very relaxing and mindful experience. Homemade bread is amazing - the simplest ingredients create mouth-watering delights and I truly believe that everyone can learn to bake good bread.

I decided  to follow my dream and opened a cookery school as well as a micro-bakery. I run various classes, including sourdough, and I'm always looking to add more to my repertoire - watch this space!

The cookery courses are held in my home kitchen with a maximum of 4 students. This ensures the classes are relaxed and informal plus I have plenty of time to help everyone get to grips with the techniques I teach.
